The suggestions thread
Last time I made a blog entry I got a lot of advice from a lot of people about what should be what and how. I am always looking for suggestions and how to improve the boards, technically or otherwise.
If you have a suggestion, leave one!
Change the background color to something other than black. Change it to something more cheery. And I guess you could also use to make a list of the boards with the most activity so far(rather than just latest) on the front page.
It’s too bad not many people are replying, but I suppose all the best ideas were already mentioned in the other thread.
OK. The futaba theme (i.e. typical 4chan colors) is much brighter, and I am thinking about making it default, but users will have the option of changing it. I intend on making some more eventually.
I’m thinking people will respond better not only because the colors are brighter but also because they’re familiar. So they come here and they’re like “whoa i think this is a imageboard”.
(I personally like the gray/black but can understand if people think it’s gloomy.)
1. Fix your HTTP Content-Type. The site is pretty much unusable right now.
2. Let people browse boolean combinations of tags, e.g. (politics AND chuck norris), ((lolicon OR toddlerkon) AND NOT furry), etc.
Is search broken?
’cause I get this:
.bq We’re sorry, but something went wrong.
.bq We’ve been notified about this issue and we’ll take a look at it shortly.
Would it be possible to make a feature allowing more threads to be viewed per page?
Or how about a feature where you could choose to view all the threads of multiple different boards in one single board?
Eleo,
An even better idea, along the lines of >>1994:
RSS feeds.
Why? Because you can subscribe to the feeds in Google Reader and have “permanent history” of threads along with aggregation. It saves bandwidth with page hits (and reduces page hits), but I don’t think that will matter much considering that images are much bigger than text. It’s the history and aggregation that are appealing.
As for ads, there will be less ad revenue with plain RSS (recommended; ads x number of posts per thread = obnoxious), but keep in mind that posting will require a visit to this site.
